To the east of the car park is a 2 km long, curving, north facing beach (KI-5) which terminates at the northern tip of the Beatrice Point sand spit. A gravel road runs from The Bluff along the back of this beach to the spit and then down to Kingscote. This protected beach is usually calm and consists of a narrow high tide beach fronted by 100 m wide sand ridges and flats, then the seagrass meadows and finally the tidal channel for the bay, which clips the northern tip of the spit.
