Nepean Bay beach (KI-15) is a 4.9 km long, curving, north facing beach consisting of a narrow, moderately steep, shelly-sand high tide beach, fronted by 200 to 400 m of vegetated sand flats. It extends from a tidal creek in the west to the foreland, on the other side of which is the 6.4 km long Morrison Beach (KI-16). Morrison Beach receives slightly higher waves, averaging about 0.5 m, which have built a 300 to 600 m wide sand flat containing six to twelve low amplitude ridges (Fig. 5.3). The ridges are apparently maintained by periodic higher waves. The beach is narrow and moderately steep and in most places backed by dense vegetation. The beach terminates at the prominent, 20 m high scarped bluffs, called Red Banks.
