Cape Rouge beach (KI-1) is a crenulate, east facing, 3.5 km long beach, that runs essentially due south from the northern 30 m high Point Marsden. The only access to the beach is from the North Cape Road, which runs 800 m west of the northern end of the beach. Otherwise there is no public access, as grazing land backs the beach. The beach consists of a narrow high tide beach, fronted by 100 m wide sand flats, containing two to three low ridges, then seagrass meadows. The sand flats widen off the southern tip, extending south as part of the 9 km long submerged spit which blocks the entrance to the bay.
Beach Length: 3.5km
General Hazard Rating: 1/10
