Sandhurst beach (KI-67) is a 1.8 km long, south facing beach which has supplied the dune sand for the extensive Cave Sandhills, which back the beach and eastern bluffs. The beach is bordered by 20 to 30 m high calcarenite bluffs, with vegetated dunes climbing to 50 m and extending 3 km inland backing most of the beach. Two 4WD tracks wind through the dunes to the centre and eastern bluff. The beach consists of a sandy swash and high tide beach, fronted by a near continuous, 50 m wide calcarenite reef, then a 100 m wide surf zone dominated by several large rips, including permanent rips against the boundary rocks. At the eastern end of the beach is a 100 m long pocket of sand fronted by tidal pools in the reef and then surf.
