False Cape Beach (KI-63) runs for 2.2 km from the 50 m high cape to Black Head, both of which protrude about 400 m seaward. The south facing sand beach is backed by massive vegetated Holocene dune transgressions that have moved several kilometres inland. Pleistocene dune calcarenite outcrops on the beach and in the surf. The 2 m high waves maintain a 300 m wide double bar system, with up to seven strong beach and reef-controlled rips along the beach. Toward the western end, the calcarenite becomes more dominant as the bluffs also encroach on the beach. A solitary 4WD track terminates above the western bluffs.
