The southern and eastern shore of Eastern Cove is occupied by more exposed beaches which, during strong westerly winds, receive low to moderate wind waves, capable of producing low surf and small rips on some of the beaches.
Strawbridge Point lies directly opposite the American River settlement and forms the sandy eastern side of the inlet. Sweeping south of the point for 1.7 km is a low energy sandy beach (KI-34) fronted by tidal flats, which widen from 100 m at the point to 350 m at the southern end. The deeper tidal channel fronts the flats. The Island Beach Road terminates at the point, with 4WD access possible along the beach. A small tidal creek also drains across the tip of the point.
