Between Bales Beach and Seal Bay is 2 km of highly crenulate cliffed coast, along the base of which are five small pocket beaches, for the most part fronted by a combination of calcarenite platforms and/or reefs. All are difficult to access and none are suitable for recreation.
Beach KI-96 is a 70 m long pocket of high tide sand, backed by 40 m high cliffs and fronted by a 50 m wide platform, then a 100 m wide surf zone dominated by a permanent rip. This beach is accessible around the rocks from Bales Beach during low waves at low tide.
