Western River Cove is the only publicly accessible beach between Snelling Beach, 8 km to the east, and Harveys Return, 30 km to the west. One kilometre west of the cove, Valley Creek flows through a cleared, V-shaped valley to a small, 80 m long boulder beach (KI-162). The rear and eastern side of the beach have been excavated to form a small area for launching boats, with a 4WD track winding down the valley to the landing. Jagged rock platforms and rock reefs border either end of the beach.
