This section of coast faces generally west and received lower swell that is slowly increases in size northwards, with some of the beaches more protected by headlands and reefs. Beach 953 is a curving 1 km long sand beach, which lies immediately below the point where the Frenchman Bluff road reaches the shore. It receives waves averaging about 0.5 m in the south, which decrease along the more protected south facing northern section. There is a good view of the beach from a northern car park, however the best access is at the southern end. On the west side of the car park, at the base of 20 m high cliffs is beach 954, a 130 m long reflective south facing pocket beach, bordered small headlands both containing car parks and backed by the bluffs.
