The bluffs cut the high tide beach into several compartments, all the while fronted by the continuous 300 m wide double bar surf zone dominated by several large rips. After a 600 m long section of continuous bluff and no beach, beach 820 is a 2.3 km long section of open bluff and reef free beach, backed by active dunes extending up to1 km inland. It is fronted by a 300 m wide surf zone containing a double rip dominated bar system, with usually six rips crossing the inner bar.
