Along the western side of the port between Point Longnose and Eely Point is 15 km of predominantly sandy shore containing 13 low energy beaches and sand flats. The southern side of Point Longnose consists of a narrow, 2.8 km long south facing beach (902), which is fronted by the 2 to 4 km wide abandoned flood tide deltas of the former port entrance, resulting in usually calm conditions at the beach.
