The main Sensation Beach (857) is a curving 4.5 km long beach, that faces southwest, then south and southeast in the western corner. Much of the beach is fronted by a rip dominated 200 m wide surf zone with usually 10 beach rips along this section. The western corner swings round in lee of the Misery Bay headland, which reduces waves to about 1 m, which maintain a wide low gradient beach and attached bar. Most of the beach is backed by active dunes extending up to 3 km inland.
Beach Length: 4.5km
General Hazard Rating: 7/10
