West of the car park are two small more protected beaches that become increasingly dominated by the rugged metasedimentary rocks of the point. Both can be accessed from the main beach, with a car park above the southern most beaches. Beach 986 is a more irregular 250 m long curving sand and boulder beach, which is broken by more prominent rocks and reefs. A step gravel track has been cut in the 20 m high red bluffs to provide access to the beach for launching small boats.
