On the north side of the creek is the main Port Germein beach (554), a 1.7 km long straight, west facing beach, which terminates at the base of a 1 km long jetty. The small beachfront town spreads either side of the jetty. On the north side of the jetty the northern beach (555) continues on for another 1.4 km terminating in amongst a mangrove woodland. Both beaches are fronted by 900 m wide sand flats, covered by up to 40 low sand ridges.
