On the north side of the Island, the mainland Telowie Beach (553) extends in a relatively straight direction for 7.5 km up to the small tidal creek on the south side of Port Germein. The highway runs 300 to 400 m west of the beach and there are several access tracks across the backing low beach ridges to the undeveloped beach. It is fronted by 1 m wide ridged sand flats.
