Carcase Rock is a small granite outcrop lying 250 m off the northern end of beach 788. The beach is 900 m long, faces east with a slight protrusion in the beach, owing to wave refraction round the rock. There is vehicle access to the northern end, with tracks leading north to beach 786, and south to beach 789. A small bluff separates it from beach 789, an 850 m long straight white sand beach, which terminates at a sloping 300 m long granite headland which separates in from beach 790. Both beaches have a usually narrow attached low tide bar.
