Porter Bay was converted from tidal flats to a large marina in the late 1980’s. At the same time the low energy beach and tidal flats that fronted the bay, were formalised with training walls, terminal groynes, as well as being nourished with sand, while the creek was dredged to form the channel for the marina. The northern beach (758) is 120 m long faces east and is fronted by 100 m wide tidal flats, and backed by a reserve and houses.
