Perlubie Beach (1184) is the most popular beach in Streaky Bay. It is located just of the highway, 15 km north of Streaky Bay township. A road runs to a bluff top car park overlooking the northern end of the beach, with vehicle access also onto the beach, which is used for launching boats at high tide. The northern end of the beach also provides a second car park, toilet block, water and some shade shelters on the beach, which is also used for camping. The beach is 2.5 km long and faces west. Waves entering the wide bay entrance 20 km to the west are greatly reduced by the time they reach the beach, with additional protection to the south from Eba Island. The beach is composed of fine sand, which with the low waves, produces as wide flat, firm beach suitable for driving cars on. It is fronted by 200 m wide ridged shallow sand flats, with a long wade required to reach deep water. The southern sand flats extend all the way to Eba Island. Seagrass is common on the beach and extensive bare sand dunes extend up to 400 m inland from the beach. The rear of the wide beach becomes a major camping area over the Christmas holidays, with numerous caravans, tents and shelters erected along the northern end of the beach. The campers use the beach to launch their boats, with farmers using old tractors to tow their boats out across the sand flats. There is also a New Years Day horse race along the beach.
