Once past the bluffs beach 1154 begins. It is initially dominated by beachrock reefs, which dominate the beach for one kilometre north of the car park, beyond which is a more open beach with an offshore bar. High waves and rips dominate the entire beach. Along the southern section they are permanent reef controlled rips, while north of the car park they are beach rips spaced approximately every 400 m and flowing out through a 300 m wide surf zone.
