The main beach (1361) is a 2.5 km long slightly crenulate in lee of deeper reefs, with a combination of reef controlled and beach rips flowing out across the 300 m wide high energy surf zone. The beach is backed by low bluffs, a deflation surface and then active dune extending 1 km inland. At the western end of the beach a beachrock reef lowers waves at the shore, and on top of the bluffs is a solitary tin shack.
