Scott Bay is a 4.5 km long exposed southwest facing bay, containing a predominately energetic beach (1357) and backing massive sand dunes, some of which are spilling over into Fowlers Bay, 2 km to the northeast. The bay while exposed in the central 3 km is protected at both end by prominent beachrock reefs extending up to 1 km into the bay from Point Fowler in the east and Scott Point in the west. In lee of the reefs waves are low and the beach reflective, while along the central section waves averaging 1.5 to 2 m and several large rips cross the 300 m wide surf zone. The beach terminates in the west at 20 m high calcarenite bluffs, which continue on south for 1 km to Scott Point where they reach 30 m in height. Along the base of the bluffs is 150 m long beach 1358, a low energy east facing beach protected by the point and reefs extending 400 m off the beach.
Beach Length: 4.5km
