Beach 593 is a 4 km long sand spit that is slowly growing northward into the bay. The spit begins amongst the mangroves in lee of the Whyalla harbour training walls, and runs north as a series of, at times, discontinuous spits, to terminate at the first of a series of five small tidal creeks, which separate in it from beach 592.
