Douglas Point is the eastern most tip of the small coastal range. The 3 km of bedrock dominated shoreline to either side is highly crenulate, and contains five beaches, separated by bedrock shores and rock flats, four of which contain a total of 50 shacks. The point is the at the end of a scenic drive that originates 10 km north of Whyalla and runs as a sealed road to Lowly Point, then as a gravel road to Fitzgerald Bay and Douglas Point.
Beach 571 is a curving 150 m long east facing beach fronted by rock, then sand flats. Beach 572 is a 70 m long pocket of southeast facing sand, backed by 4 shacks.
