Between Blanche Harbour and Fitzgerald Bay, 20 km to the south, is a protruding north-south coastal range that peaks at 200 m high Monument Hill. This low energy bedrock dominated section of coast faces into the upper gulf, only 5 km wide at Mangrove Point, widening to 9 km at Fitzgerald Bay. Access to the coast is restricted to a gravel military road and tracks paralleling the back of the shore and leading down to some of the beaches. Along the first 13 km of shore are three low energy beaches and sand flats.
Mangrove Point, as the name suggests, is dominated by mangroves to either end, with a 900 m long more open beach (568) bordered by mangrove fringed recurved spits to either end, and fronted by sand flats. Four-wheel drive tracks reach the point from the north and south.
Beach Length: 0.9km
