The southern end of Yankalilla Bay is occupied by a long narrow beach at the base of sloping grassy bluffs that rise to over 150 m. Toward the southern end of the bay is Wirruna Resort, nestled in a valley behind the beach and marina which was under construction in 1998. A road runs though a break in the bluffs to reach the southern end of the beach and the marina site, where there is a large car park. The beach (205) now begins on the northern side of the marina, and runs north for 320 m. It is a sand beach with increasing rock outcropping on the beach and as reefs toward the northern end. Waves are usually low and calm conditions common.
