Balgowan is a small town located at Point Warrenne. The remain of the old jetty are located at the tip of the small point, with a large beachfront car park. The town sits on 20 m high bluffs overlooking both the southern beach (486) (Fig. 4.100) that runs down to Chinaman Well, and the first of four west facing beaches extend north of the town for 5 km to Tiparra Rocks. All receive low wind waves and are fronted by continuous seagrass meadows. The town beach (487) is 1.1 km long and extends north of the point. It is accessible from the car park, and is used to launch boats, with tractors and cars often parked on the beach. Seagrass meadows lie 20 m off the shore. Steep red alluvial bluffs back the beach, with a second bluff top car park at the northern end.
