The Gap is a break in the near continuous dunes that extend from Balgowan to Cape Elizabeth. A gravel road runs out to the beach where there is a car park that provides access to both Gap beaches, and a camping area. The southern beach (497) extends for 1.5 km south of the car park to the northern Bamboos reef. It is a slightly crenulate sandy beach, fronted by 200 to 300 m wide sand and rock flats, with dunes extending up to 500 m in lee of the beach.
Beach Length: 1.5km
