Parara is the name of a low sandy foreland accessible by a gravel road to the middle of the foreland where there is a tin shed but no facilities. It is named after the old Parara homestead located 3 km inland. The narrow high tide beach (251) is usually covered in seagrass debris and is fronted by 500 m wide tidal flats. The beach extends for 1.5 km north of the foreland, and 1.5 km to the south where it terminates at the protruding mouth of the small Pavy Creek.
