Beach 480 lies immediately north of Port Victoria where the sand flats widen progressively to 800 m. The backing 3.4 km long high tide beach receives occasional low waves, and at its northern end grades into the vegetated tidal flats of beach 481. This beach curves round to face south then east in lee of Point Pearce. It consist of a narrow high ride strip of sand fronted by mangrove and seagrass covered flats up to 1.5 km wide. Vehicle tracks parallel the back of the beaches, with no facilities.
