The main beach (285) runs for 1.8 km from the foreland through to a second curving foreland that terminates at the base of the 20 m high Dowcer Bluff. The Sheoak Flat settlement occupies 200 m of the central flats, wedged in between the road and shore. Besides the houses there is a beachfront car park. Both beaches receive low waves and are fronted by shallow sand flats and seagrass meadows.
