Flattery Beach (464) begins just south of the settlement and runs for 9.6 km almost to the settlement of Hardwicke Bay. The northwest facing beach receives all westerly wind waves, however they breaks across a 700 m wide sand flats covered by up to 16 low ridges and runnels, with usually calm conditions at the shore. There is access to the beach at either and a central car park (also known as Town Beach) but no facilities. The beach is backed by a 2 km wide coastal plain containing up to 20 low foredune ridges in the west and centre, which grade into generally stable parabolic dunes in the east.
