The north section of beach T 109 extends south of the rocks for 650 m to the usually blocked mouth of Dianas Basin, a shallow 100 ha coastal lagoon fed by Basin Creek and the smaller Little Basin. The beach receives waves averaging up to 1.5 m, which break across a 100 m wide surf zone with usually a northern rip against the boundary rocks and one to two rips towards the inlet mouth. It is backed by a 200 m wide band of vegetated transgressive dunes, which have climbed 20 m up the boundary northern slopes.
