Beach T 1000 is located on the east side of the rocks and is a 100 m long strip of high tide sand and rocks fronted by a 200 m wide continuation of the intertidal sand. A 50 m long strip of rocks separates it from 150 m long beach T 1001, which is located on the western side of the Crayfish Creek mouth, while the intertidal sand continues past both beaches. Waves are reduced by rock reefs extending 500 m seaward of the creek to less than 1 m at the two beaches. A narrow tidal channel cuts across the low tide sand flats, accompanied by strong currents during mid to high tide. Dense vegetation, then the highway, backs both beaches, with a bridge crossing the creek 50 m west of beach T 1001.
