The main Edgcumbe Beach (T 1005) commences on the southern side of the rocky point and curves to the southeast for 150 m to a 100 m long section of intertidal rocks. This is a more exposed beach with waves averaging over 1 m and breaking across a 150 m wide intertidal bar. It is backed by a low grassy reserve then ten houses that front the reserve and beach. During low wave conditions the western end of the beach is used to launch boats. Beach T 1006 continues on the other side of the rocks for another 200 m curving round to face north at its eastern end where it is bordered by a 100 m wide low rocky point and rock platform. The highway clips the centre of the beach, with two houses behind the eastern end in lee of the point. It shares the 150 m wide bar with the main beach with both beaches having a wide, low gradient dissipative surf zone. When waves exceed 1 m the surf is up to 100 m wide and rips drain out against the boundary points.
Beach Length: 0.2km
