Periwinkle Beach (T 930) is a 550 m long slightly curving west-facing sandy beach bordered by low rocky shore to the south and a 100 m long ridged-reef to the north, together with a few rocks on the shore. It is exposed to waves averaging over 2 m, which maintain a well developed inner bar, usually drained by rips to either end, and at times a smaller central rip. Higher waves break across an outer bar and deeper reefs and feed a strong rip, which runs out against the northern rocks. The beach is backed by a high tide cobble beach, then vegetated dunes that extend to the northeast for up to 1 km and cross the rear of Green Point. The road terminates at the southern end of the beach, which is a popular surfing spot, also called Nettley Beach or Nettley Bay.
Beach Length: 0.55km
