Egging Point is a low sandy foreland that forms the southern tip of the island. Beach WI 1 commences at the point and trends to the north, then northwest for 1.4 km to an 8 m high, 100 m long vegetated point. The beach faces west across the western side of Mosquito Inlet, a 500 m wide tidal channel that separates Robbins and Walker islands, and which narrows to 250 m at the northern tip of Robbins Island. The beach is sheltered by Robbins Island and the wide sands that extend to the west resulting in usually low wind waves to calm conditions at the shore. It is fronted by sand flats that widen from 100 m at the point to 250 m at the northern end, then a deep 100 m wide tidal channel. The entire beach forms the western side of a 1 km wide barrier bordered by the high energy Rookery Beach (WI 9) to the north and beach WI 10 along Mosquito Inlet. The landing ground is located to the lee of the centre of the beach and almost reaches the shore.
Beach Length: 1.4km
