Picnic Beach (T 1012) commences at a low vegetated rock outcrop, which extends 100 m seaward across the low tide beach. It trends to the east-northeast for 250 m to the next rock outcrop, with waves decreasing in height to the lee of the rocks. It has a continuous low gradient high tide sand beach, fronted by a 100 m wide low tide terrace (Fig. 4.220). Waves average about 1 m and usually maintain a 50 m wide surf zone, with two to three rips forming along the base of the beach during and following periods of higher waves, while there is surf off the western point when waves exceed 1 m. A vehicle track runs out from the Rocky Cape Road to the beach and provides vehicle access to the beach. Most of the beach is backed by dense coastal scrub, with a clearing for informal camping along the rear of the western half of the beach.
Beach Length: 0.25km
