Beaches 978-980 are three pockets of sand and cobbles located along an otherwise low rocky shore extending 2 km south of Cable Point. Beach T 978 is a curving west-facing 150 m long high tide cobble beach fronted by inner rock and outer ridged sand flats, totalling 200 m in width. Beach T 979 is located 700 m to the north and is a straight 100 m long strip of high tide sand and cobbles located at the mouth of a drainage ditch. It faces west across inner rock and outer ridged sand flats totalling 200 m in width. Beach T 980 lies to the lee of Cable Point and is a similar southwest-facing 200 m long high tide cobble beach fronted by 300 m wide rock then ridged sand flats. All three beaches share the continuous rock and sand flats and are backed by a fringe of scrub and cleared low-lying farmland.
