Beach T 976 is a curving 1.2 km long strip of high tide sand that faces west to Anthony Beach across the deep 500 m wide West Inlet channel and terminates at a low rock groyne. The beach is sheltered by the island in the south and 1 km wide tidal sand flats to the north resulting in usually calm wave conditions, but strong tidal currents within the channel. It is backed by a strip of trees then cleared farmland, with the Stanley Road located 300 m to the east
