Beach T 874 commences at Gaffney Point and trends to the north for 1.1 km as a series of five cuspate sandy bays between reef-tied forelands. The rocks and reefs continue up to 800 m offshore lowering waves to less than 1 m at the shore, where reflective conditions usually prevail. A few houses back the first bay, with a continuous crescentic foredune extending to Poppys Lagoon creek at the northern end. Between the beach and xx ha wetland is a 300-500 m wide series of about 12 crescentic foredune ridges, the ridges shaped by wave refraction around the rocks and reefs.
