Beach T 970 commences amongst rocks on the southern side of the bay and trends to the southeast for 2 km to the 500 m wide shallow entrance to Shoal Inlet (Fig. 4.205). Wave height decreases down the beach as the tidal flats widen to 1 km to reach the small Shell Islets, with the inner 300 m of flats containing up to 16 shore-parallel sand ridges. This is a very low energy beach and sand flats that have prograded south as a 300 m wide spit to form the northern side of the inlet. Intertidal vegetation grows across some of the flats and salt marsh grows along the shore in places. The beach is backed by a few low poorly defined vegetated beach ridges and recurved spits, then the 100 ha shallow inlet.
Beach Length: 2km
General Hazard Rating: 1/10
