Shelly Beach (T 427) commences 1.5 km south of the point and curves for 1.9 km to the southeast terminating against the cleared slopes of Icehouse Bluff. The beach faces northeast into the bay and receives only low wind waves. It consists of a narrow high tide beach fronted by sand flats, which widen from 100 m in the south to 500 m in the north. Mitchells Beach (T 422) is located 500 m to the west on the Derwent side of South Arm.
