Cowrie Beach (T 701) is located on the western side of the 70 m high tree-covered hill in a 200 m wide south-facing bay with trees continuing around the sloping shores of the bay. The beach extends for 200 m along the northern shore of the bay and terminates at the mouth of a small creek in the northern corner. It is a high tide cobble beach, free of rocks in the northern corner, but with rock flats increasing in width from 50 to 100 m to the west. Most waves break over reefs outside the bay with usually low waves at the shore. A side walking track reaches the rear of the beach.
