The Mulcahy River enters the northern side of the bay through a narrow bedrock valley, with densely vegetated 20 m high sides. Beach T 692 is located at the mouth of the river, 300 m inside the valley, and faces south out of the bay. The river flow maintains a low bare unstable beach, which grades into a low gradient bar, with waves breaking heavily across a bar 100 m off the beach at the rock-bordered mouth of the valley. The beach and surf are often stained with the tannin river flow.
