Toogelow Beach (T 642) is located on the northern side of Milner Point at the base of the slopes of Mount Milner between two densely vegetated steeply rising headlands. The 1 km long beach faces west-southwest towards the port entrance 8 km to the southwest. It still receives moderately high swell averaging up to 1.5 m, which has to pass between Boil Rock and Kathleen Island to reach the shore. The waves maintain a well developed transverse bar and rip system containing 4 to 5 beach rips. The bar and surf zone is a mixture of sand and some scattered rocky seafloor (Fig. 130). It is backed by a scarped 20 m high foredune, which extends 50-100 m inland to the base of the slopes of Mount Greer. A creek drains through the dune and across the centre of the beach.
