A narrow tidal inlet separates the northern point from Little Musselroe Bay beach (T 17). The beach trends to the southeast, then east for 4 km finally curving to the northeast in lee of the low Tree Point, its eastern boundary. The entire beach receives waves averaging less than 1 m which maintain a steep reflective beach, backed by a continuous foredune, then the largely infilled wetlands of the shallow 60 ha estuary. Towards the eastern end of the beach where it curves to face northwest, there has been dune transgression across 100-200 m wide Tree Point to beach T 18. Strong tidal flows around Tree Point maintain shore-perpendicular tidal sand waves along the eastern half of the beach inducing variable nearshore and shoreline topography.
