Beaches T 1268 and 1269 are located in a 500 m wide south-facing embayment on the northern side of the inlet. Beach T 1268 is a 200 m long southwest-facing sheltered beach, with a narrow high tide beach and 50 m wide low tide bar, grading 100 m offshore into a rocky seafloor. It is bordered by low dolerite rocks, and backed by an old (Holocene?) east-trending well vegetated dune that extends 600 m to the east. Beach T 1269 lies 100 m to the west and is a similar south-facing 200 m long strip of high tide sand fronted by a strip of sand then shallow rock flats including a 200 m long rock ridge off the western end, grading into deeper rock reefs. The lower slopes of Semaphore Hill extend 250 m to the southwest as a boundary point. Cape Portland, the northernmost tip of the Tasmanian mainland, lies 1.5 km to the northwest, with low rocky coast in between. Beach T 1 lies on the east coast, 1 km to the north (see Fig. 4.272).
