Great Musselroe Bay beach (T 21) commences in the north against the 1 km long section of granite that rises to 48 m 500 m inland. The beach sweeps for 8.8 km to the southeast, then curves to the east and finally northeast, terminating at the narrow inlet, with the granite rocks of Musselroe Point forming the eastern inlet boundary. The bay receives waves averaging about 1 m, increasing slightly into the southern corner. Most of the beach is steep cusped and reflective with a low tide terrace forming during and following periods of higher waves. It is backed by a continuous well vegetated foredune, then a relatively narrow barrier that forms the western boundary to the 6 km long estuary. A small tidal delta is located off the inlet mouth, which is bordered by granite boulders and the granite of the point, with a right-hand surf break over the delta shoals during larger swell. The settlement of Poole is located across the estuary at the eastern end of the beach. It spreads along the sandy estuarine shoreline for 1.5 km, with several small fishing boats usually moored in the estuary.
