Tomahawk Beach (T 1257) fronts the small settlement of Tomahawk, with the Tomahawk River Public Reserve between the beach and houses. The beach receives low refracted waves, which break across a 200 m wide low tide terrace/sand flats, together with intertidal rock outcropping across the flats. The beach extends for 1.7 m to the southeast to a rock-controlled sandy foreland and inflection in the beach. The Tomahawk Road follows the rear of the reserve with a caravan park located behind the eastern end of the beach and the beach used to launch small boats at high tide. The nature of this beach can also undergo considerable variation in response to river mouth conditions and sand supply, with at times a low sand spit and elongate lagoon forming the length of the beach.
Beach Length: 1.7km
General Hazard Rating: 3/10
