Beach FI 70 is located to the lee of the 2 ha Bird Island, which is attached at low tide to its western point. The beach consists of a 40 m long pocket of high tide sand grading into a mixture of sand and rocks. It is backed by Pleistocene dune calcarenite rising to 30 m in the east, with a vehicle track running down the eastern point above the beach.
